FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Kia ora Koutou,

Pink Shirt Day Gold Coin Donation

Pink Shirt Day in 2019 who is that centre character!!!!!!! Let’s all get dressed in Pink!!!

This Friday, the 20th of May, Wainui School will be participating in ‘Pink Shirt Day’. All children will come to school dressed in pink and stand together against bullying. As Constable Bryan (who is an ambassador for Pink Shirt Day) says, on Pink Shirt Day, pink is not a colour – it’s an attitude!

We ask everyone to wear as much pink as they can and add anti-bullying messages to themselves  in preparation for Friday. We will have a ‘Pink’ parade with Constable Bryan and Constable John, our Community Constables. We will also have pink treats and hot chocolate with Pink Marshmallows for sale – only $1-2. Our Year 8 Councillors have prepared a large pink t-shirt, which they would love to cover with gold coins so please send your child to school with a gold coin to add to the collection. The raised money will be donated to the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, who is a charity that works towards creating a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health and wellbeing.

Violet Clayton and Ella Maddox Student Councillors

Ngā mihi nui,

THIS WEEK

Tui and Takahe Team – Each class has the opportunity to visit Te Tuhi Art Gallery, a contemporary Art Gallery in Pakuranga and participate in art lessons. After the last few years with Covid, it is time to step outside and re connect with art and with outdoor challenge.

Driveway Safety – Thank you everyone for your feedback and support. There are a few areas we can be even better in for the safety of our tamariki.

Drop off at the top of the Driveway – To increase safety, please ensure you indicate you are leaving from a stationary position to drive away.

After School Pick Up – Please ensure all children stay either up at the pick up area or down on little bush road, both places are well supervised with teachers.

Parking outside the school gates – Please ensure you are well off the road and not blocking the vision of those leaving from the driveway.
