Dear Parents & Caregivers
Haere mai, a very warm welcome back to 2022, it’s looking interesting already!
I hope everyone has made the most of this amazing summer and are now looking forward to the school year. The teachers are all in and preparing the classrooms and meeting to plan the programmes. Next week we have two teacher-only days to build our new team of staff, ensure we are planned, prepared and ready to have some fun in our learning.
Today’s communication is to set the ball rolling for communication. Today the Ministry of Education, the Government are sending all principals clear information on how schools will operate under the Red Traffic light and plan for whatever may lie ahead with the prospect of Omicron. I will update everyone on this later in the week.
The focus for this communication is:
- Staffing 2022
- New Families visiting prior to start date
- All families meeting their teachers for 2022
- Buses
Staffing, Teachers:
Since the communication of classes at the end of 2021 we have two changes to update you on:
- Mr. Rody O’Reilly has resigned to take up a business opportunity. As his replacement, we have Mr. Nicholas Wotton, a wonderfully friendly, cricket-mad, energetic young teacher.
- Mr. Keon Ng returned to Malaysia for compassionate reasons. He is now unable to return until MIQ spaces become free. Very lucky for us, Mrs. Taylor will not retire just yet!! Mrs. Taylor (3 days/ week) and Mr. Irvine (2 days/ week) will teach this class. They are very used to working together and always have lots of fun!! We are supporting Mr. Ng in his challenge to return home.
- The Takahe and Tui team will work together at times and separate when they need to. The team leader for the senior area is Miss Leanne Stevenson.

New families – A very warm welcome to you all, we look forward to getting to know you. There is an opportunity on Tuesday 1st February from 2:30pm onwards to meet myself and the teacher and find the classroom. Please email the class teacher or Mel in the office on [email protected], to schedule a time.
ALL families meet the teacher first interviews – To enable everyone to meet in person (we hope) and meet the teacher and see the classroom we will have scheduled interview times on 15th and 16th February between 3:00pm and 6:00pm.
Buses – GObus is the new bus company taking over from Ritchies. They have been training around the area over the last few weeks. We are just putting the final details together on the new bus routes so will be sending out all the information in the next few days.
All the staff are so looking forward to returning and seeing you all. I will send out more communications as I receive these to ensure we are all prepared.
Take care everyone!!
