WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING

Measles information and status in our community – Thank you to all parents for providing us with updated details of your child’s  immunisation status. I have an up to date list of all the staff, itinerant staff and all children’s vaccination status  in case we need to take further action if there was to be a case of measles in our community. There has been a case on the Hibiscus Coast. Please be aware if our status was to change and you were not vaccinated your child would be required to stay at home for 10-14 days.

Musical Performance – Last Thursday we had a very special morning of guitar, singing, drumming and keyboard performance from Maria O’Flaherty’s and Ross Hutchison’s students. Every year we are entertained and amazed at the growth, confidence and talent so many of our students develop under the wings of Maria and Ross. We are very fortunate to have such talented music teachers, if you would like any information on learning with either please let me know.

THIS WEEK

AIMS GAMES – The following children are representing in both Hockey and Swimming: Maddison Ditchburn, Micaela Bartrom, Vinnie Holmes, Marley Straka, Lucas Keller, Zoe Grey, Dillon Ranby, Cole Davies and our swimmer Bradyn Yacyshen are all in Tauranga competing in the Intermedate Schools Games, this is a huge organisation and Miss Rowlands is with the competitors and updating me with great stories

I have included a photo of Bradyn who in his first race achived a PB.  Well Done Bradyn.

Driveway Update –  Things are changing!! The work is now on the large carpark in front of the school house.  This is being prepared with kerbing to seal. This means the roundabout has reopened and is being used for pick up time. The buses will come in and park by the pool. Currently one bus comes earlier than the other. Thank you again for helping, being flexible whilst this works happens. Next week on Friday 20th September we are on track for driveway and roundabout resealing. This is the day we have asked to be a Teacher Only Day . Please ensure you let us know if you need supervision for your children.

Calendars –  These are now completed and are all on display outside the classes. These are looking amazing, they make wonderful presents for family and friends both for Christmaa and other special occasions. The cards and diaries are also fantastic, I love to stock up on these myself!! Dates to order by are Friday 20th September.  Thank you Nadine Phillips for organising this for our school. The school does make some money from this and every little bit helps.

COMING UP

Pukeko Team Production “Star fish”  – Dates moved to week 10.   Matinee performance on Tuesday 24th September at 11.30am and Night performance on Wednesday 25th September at 6.00pm.

FINALLY

Chocolate Fundraiser – Thank you everyone, we have collected almost all the money (a tiny bit still to come back).  The final amount raised at this stage is $7,108.40.  A huge thank you to Melanie Mayes and Sonja Joubert for all your work in this fundraiser. The date for the movie, popcorn afternoon is Thursday 19th September for all those families that sold more than one box.

Lastly – To everyone that has donated to the school and contributed their school fees – with Kindo it is easier, but sometimes forgotten, we budget to include this contribution enabling us to do such things as run our pool, have the bikes maintained, have more Teacher Aides every year, continue to increase our ICT, iPads and Chrome Books especially. PLEASE do donate, it really does help.

Ka kite ano,

SHREK THE MUSICAL 2019 COMING TO A SWAMP NEAR YOU – 2 – 5TH OCTOBER 2019 AT CENTRESTAGE THEATRE, OREWA

Northern School of Performing Arts will be producing SHREK THE MUSICAL in October of this year at Centrestage Theatre in Orewa.  It will be during the first week of the school holidays. We hope to follow in the footsteps of our much talked about sell out season of Annie last year.  It will be a full scale production and as you can imagine the cost to put on such a show is huge so we must sell our tickets!!!

We do love it as its all about the kids and producing an amazing full scale production for the community.  Our creative team has vast amounts of experience within Musical Theatre in New Zealand.  Our cast are based all over North Shore and Rodney District.

Director: Sophia Pedersen, Musical Director: Annelie Maddock, Choreographer: Louise Wilkie.

We appreciate that you will be asked all the time but your help would be so appreciated by Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and all the other fairytale characters. If you are able to assist us down in the swamp and help us achieve our goal of an awesome stage production of SHREK THE MUSICAL that would be awesome.

The team would like to Thank you in advance!
