Since the early 1950s, Ag Day, or more commonly known then as Calf Club Day, has been held annually at Wainui School. This day has various activities, both indoor and outdoor. Children raise a pet lamb, calf, kid goat or chicken to present in various categories. Ribbons are distributed at the conclusion of judging for each category. Each of the classrooms are also filled with the children’s artistic talents and these are also awarded certificates for excellence. There is yummy food and drinks to purchase and games, bouncy castles, and lots of prizes to be won. Some of the children will also be showing off their entrepreneurial skills and running market stalls.
It is part of the school curriculum and an official school day – probably the most fun day of the whole year for the kids! After all, a school day where you get to hang out with friends, eat, play, pet animals, win prizes… what can be better than that?

Donations
We ask for weekly donations of items that we can use for raffles, games and prizes. We will list the weekly donations in our Newsletters in Term 3. If you have other items that you would like to donate but that are not on our list, we would still be very grateful!
Also, on the Monday before our Ag Day & Gala (25th October), each family will be given a cake box to take home and return filled on Ag Day & Gala morning, to the cake stall (under the hall). This year we’re asking everybody to preferably fill their box with a whole cake (as people love buying these for the long weekend) – but any homemade goodies are gratefully accepted!PGG Wrightson promo for Ag Day animals 2024
