Covid Update – As we are all aware Omicron is increasing in our community and across New Zealand as forecasted. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our procedures, inform us if there is a household case and ensure the teachers are aware if you will need distance learning in some form. The expectation is for this to peak in the next few weeks, we will continue to improve our distance learning and our communication processes as we go. We will also expect to see this decrease quickly as well as predicted.
Communication – I am currently updating the website today and will link more information around Covid, distance learning, and the school in general. This will also be an easy place to action what your family needs as we move forward. The teachers will soon have access to RAT tests as provided by the MOE, this will also help us to keep our school open. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions, if I don’t know, I will find out from the Ministry of Education advisors.
Celebration – School Assemblies – These are for the time being on ZOOM. Thank you Mr. Irvine for setting up the link enabling, not just our classes to participate, but you all as families wherever you are – as of course, you don’t have to be at home! There will be three whole school assemblies a term. At the next assembly, we will have some Hellyer cups. Our Hellyer cups are awarded once a term to each team. The Hellyer cup rewards children for outstanding values and attitudes and /or special achievements. Each team has 3 to present a term. Dates for these whole school assemblies are the 25th March and 8th April. Congratulations to our first certificate winners presented on Friday.
In between times, we will have an “in-house assembly” that will award some certificates and be a platform for our Year 8 leaders and other children across the school to share their special projects, grow their own leadership skills, and enable us to join together as a school.
We are pleased to announce our Year 8 Leaders for 2022 as follows: We look forward to seeing and hearing from these leaders and all the wonderful ideas they have for our school this year.
