WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING

  • Cultural Diversity Day and World Gratitude Day Last Wednesday – What an absolutely amazing day we all had sharing the stories of our cultures, where we are from or have originated from, the costumes were wonderful. Each class had a map on which students could label where their family was from, this was on a table with children able to also share artefacts from their culture. Wainui School’s cultural diversity is fast expanding, congratulations to Sunny Odedra Year 8 counsellor for this day, we all loved it!! Thank you parents/ caregivers for the amazing food you provided for the shared lunches each classroom participated in a feast of special food. Sunny will share his thoughts in the next newsletter he is compiling a list of all the cultures we all represent and his reflections of the day. Our Gratitude jar is full we will keep sharing these at our school assemblies – very special, very humbling!

Over the last few weeks, your children have been busy working on a piece of art that can be printed on Calendars, Cards, Diaries, Mouse Mats and Sketch Pads. Your child’s teacher will be emailing you a copy of their art or else you can pop into your child’s class to view their amazing art!
This is a fundraiser from our school and the pricing is as follows:

– Cards, Mouse Mats and Sketch Pads $16 each

To order, head to Kindo before the last day of term (Friday 30 September). There are also order forms in the office and you can pay by eftpos if you prefer. These make outstanding individual gifts for friends and family and are perfect for posting overseas. The turnaround time is somewhere between 4-8 weeks depending on how busy the printers are, but you will have your amazing art pieces prior to the end of Term 4.

Ag Day and Gala – Friday 21st October 2022 – Below is the suggested list for donations if you’re able to help out. Your very generous donations will then be used to make raffles, prizes, lolly bags, etc for our event. If you don’t have time to make a weekly donation, you’re more than welcome to make a $30 donation to the school and we will do the shopping on your behalf (you can make this donation via Kindo as well). There is a collection bucket in the office to drop your donations off. Thank you for supporting our school!

Donations list:

4 Weeks to Ag Day.  26-30 September.  Bag of sweets, lollies, chocolates to make lolly bags.

School Holidays (Weeks 3 and 2) – If you haven’t donated yet, now would be a great time to get everything together to bring in the first week back at school! Or do you have/know a local business who would be willing to donate an item for our raffles or prize table?

1 Week to Ag Day.  17-21 October.  A cake box will be sent home to each family to fill with home baking. Cakes are the biggest seller, but any baking is very welcome.
