Aren’t we loving the sun!! This week is the last week to sell those chocolates!! Please ensure all money is returned by this Friday 11th August or if you are unable to sell the chocolates return the undamaged chocolates and the box to the office. we have done so so well, thank you everyone!!

What an amazing fundraiser!! Thank you again to Melissa Soulsby and Tania Cummack-Ledger for organising this and collating all the money.

  • Learning Conversations – Thank you to everyone for turning out last week (despite some pretty hairy weather on the Wednesday night!!). Most teachers have met over 90% of their parents, please ensure you catch up this week if you haven’t already. From these conversation we can continue to build the partnerships that enable even more progress to occur!
  • MasterChef Winners – Congratulations to everyone who entered the competition this year. It was truly magnificent and Harry Browne Hale can be very proud of his leadership making this the best MasterChef competition yet!!  Thank you to Chef and parent Jon Bayer for your input in judging the final!! The final was fiercely contested, great fun and amazed us all with the dishes that were produced by all ages!!

MasterChef 2023 Winners – Overall winners: Dooper Troopers team of Hamish Fincham and Lochie Raikes year 7’s with their dish Burgers and Fries.

Year 5&6 winner: Holly Fuller with her dish of Churros Caramel Sauce and Cream.

Year 3&4 winners: The Pepper Pig team of Liam Doherty, Ryder Gerrand & Nina Bell who made Sliders.

Year 1&2 winners: Lolly Cakes team of Kyralee Stewart, Leane Comradie and Murphy Mia who created Terayaki Chicken with Juice.

  • Cross Country Kaipara Interschool Year 7&8 – This was held yesterday (Monday) at Muriwai. Well done to all those that competed special mention to Harlem Kockott, Elle Brea Wells-Lakeland and all who all came in the top ten placements.
  • Motocross Champions – Jack and Adam Huggins – Congratulations to Jack who came 2nd in the Northland Schools MX Challenge on the weekend and also won 1st overall in the NZ Battle of the Schools MX Series. Jack rode in 3 race events in Patetonga, Tokoroa and Ruakaka where the riders accumulate points in each race for the overall winner. Adam also picked up a trophy coming 3rd place in the Northland Schools MX challenge. Awesome boys!!

  • Whanau Ropu – Donna Greening is continuing to work as a voice for whanau with our school leaders to bring a more authentic, true voice to the teaching of Te Reo, Tikanga and raising achievement for our Maori and Pacifika students at Wainui School. (This is a legal requirement as well for all schools in New Zealand). Donna last week spent time with our year 8 students and Miss Stevenson designing art works. This week Donna will attend our weekly leadership meeting to talk with us about the strategic plan, the improvement we can all make with our understanding of what our whanau want for their children.   • Positive Puberty – On Friday all students in years 6-8 will participate in the Positive Puberty programme with Nest Consulting. An evening to hear from Nest consultant Char Colley about the content of the programme and what was to be covered has been held. If you wish to know more please use thislink.
  • Waifactor Heats – Student councillors Oscar Price and Eva Pengelly are busy organising the annual Waifactor entertainment show and competition. This week we have the heats which started today Tuesday!! We are so looking forward to seeing all the talent!!   • School Cross Country Friday 18th August – We have all been training for this and look forward to a fun day. It starts at 9.15am and will finish before the last break. Click here for information and a timetable of the day. Wainui School Cross Country 2023 FOWS will have coffee and food for sale on the day to add to the festive spirit of this day.   • Quiz Night – The FOWS team are organising a great night!! Huge thank you to the Friends of Wainui School team, can’t believe the first 10 tables are all sold!! We are looking at adding more so do come along, get your “80’s” gear, borrow, go Op shopping or for some of us it is at the back of the wardrobe!! This is going to be a night of fun with a quiz, some great auctions to bid on the live and silent auctions and finishes with a band!! Tickets can still be purchased on Kindo, in the school office and with internet banking. If you need a table to join let us know and we can find you some people to join. A massive thank you to two of our sponsors for Quiz Night, Platinum Homes and Pit Stop.  Events like this can’t go ahead without community support and these two businesses have been so generous.  It is going to be a super evening with both businesses contributing items for our live auctions. Massive thanks from Wainui School for your generous contributions.



Please rescue your lost property, we have another large pile outside the office hopefully you might recognise some of these items!! Do come in and rescue these clothes and shoes before we give them to a charity group.

Junior Summer Touch Competition 2023 – Registrations are now open for Junior Summer Touch starting in term 4. Grades are- Years 0 – 2, 3 – 4, 5 – 6, 7 – 8.
There is a minimum of 8 players per team. Teams can either be all girls, all boys or mixed grades. This is played on Wednesday afternoons at Sharks Sports Club, Victor Eaves Park, Orewa. Please sign up, on the Registration form below. Registrations close Friday 25th August.
