FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Kia ora Koutou,

Half way through the term already incredible to believe!! But lots is happening at school and in the wider education space that affects us all!! The newsletter will continue in its current format until we have had a chance to meet with our web technician.

I would like to thank you all for your incredible support last week at Cross Country, it was wonderful to see so many families.

I would also like to thank you for continuing to inform us of any reason for not attending school. Our attendance improved in term 2 overall from 61% to 69%. This is fantastic, please keep this up!!

Please be mindful of not being late or picking up your children early too often. The school day is a full one, teachers plan for the full day for everyone.

FINALLY

Isabella Lehmann about to represent us at the AIMS Games.

AIMS Games – We are thrilled to announce that Isabella Lehmann, a dedicated student of Wainui School, will be representing us at the prestigious AIMS Games in Tauranga. Isabella has shown exceptional talent and determination, qualifying for an impressive nine swim races in her age group.

Isabella’s commitment to swimming is evident in her rigorous training schedule and her ability to balance it with her academic responsibilities. As a student leader, Isabella has been instrumental in organising school events and has been a role model for her peers. Her participation in the AIMS Games is a testament to her hard work and the support of the Wainui School community.

Let’s all cheer for Isabella as she dives into this new challenge. We are confident that she will continue to make us proud with her performances and embody the values of our school.

Go Isabella, make a splash at AIMS!  We wish you the very very best, this is like the Olympics of sport for Intermediate aged students. Next year we are investigating entering a number of sports including Mountain Biking, Golf and Swimming!!

OTHER

Yr 5/6 Hockey Zone Day – We had an awesome day at the Hockey Zone Day, played at Metropark in Millwater last Thursday 22 August. The students were outstanding and played their best at all times.

The second team came in 7th place, and the first team won all of their games to win a place in a nail biting final, where they drew one all against Stella Maris, meaning extra time was needed. Despite defending hard, the opposition scored a final goal, securing second place overall for Wainui School.

A huge thanks to the coaches Ben and Laura for all of your hard work throughout the season. Thank you also to the parents who transported the players and came along to support our school.
