FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Kia ora Koutou,

The sun WILL be shining and the ground dry for Christmas in the Country! We just have to STAY positive!! This week, we are doing lots of preparation for Christmas in the Country. We are all practicing our singing and dancing routines, and the event’s programme is being printed.  The fabulous FOWS are organising the food, and our wonderful staff will be cooking, serving, and selling raffle tickets to show our appreciation to all of you, our parents!!

One small request – is there anyone who would like to play Santa for us? Please let myself or Mel in the office know!!

We look forward to seeing you all there! Come along dressed up in your Christmas gear, full of cheer and ready to enjoy the evening.

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING

Principals and Assistant Principals for the day.

Principal For The Day – Liam, Miki and Sophie Scott all had a great day being principal for the day!! They had special lunches, joined the staff in the staff room for morning tea, and presented the certificates at assembly. I had a lovely day with my feet up!!

COVID – Seems to be back. Please be aware that this virus is prevalent again in our community. It has meant we have changed a date as we have key staff away sick.

Summer Sports Prizegiving – will now be on Tuesday, the 12th December at 9:15am and not this week Wednesday 6th December. We need to celebrate with the key people.

Clean Up – Is happening! Some of our rooms are being re-carpeted over the holidays so we have started the big clean up, as these rooms have to be completely emptied. This includes the Tech spaces, the Admin v block, the Staffroom and Pukeko, Karaka, Pukatea and Kohekohe classrooms.

NEXT WEEK

Prizegiving – Friday, 15th December at 1pm – Years 5 to 8 will have the annual Prizegiving where the students will be awarded class certificates and the cups. Many of the cups and trophies have been donated by past families. These are all very special and part of the rich tradition at Wainui School. It is a time we celebrate with the recipients of these awards and reflect on the year that has been.

Kiwi Team and Pukeko Teams Picnics – Each year the teams have a picnic to celebrate the end of the year!  Fine weather is ordered. Each team will have communicated their information with you.

COMING UP

Helpers Morning Tea – Friday, 8th December 10:10 a.m. Many have been invited but if we have missed you, and you would like to join us, please do not hesitate!  We would love to celebrate and thank you all!

FINALLY

In the true spirit of Christmas we will have a donation trailer to collect luxury food items for SALT Community Trust at our Christmas in the Country, please think about some chocolate or special food item that might be able to be contributed.

Ka kite ano,

Gillian Bray
