End of Year Celebrations!! – As we approach the end of another fantastic year at Wainui School, we’re excited to share some of the highlights and upcoming events.

Christmas in the Country – Get ready for a festive extravaganza! Our annual Christmas in the Country event is just around the corner. Join us for an evening  filled with music, dance performances, a sausage sizzle, enterprise market stalls run by the year 7&8’s, Harcourts Cooper & Co Coffee and Cone van and some holiday cheer.

  • Time: 5:30pm onwards
  • Location: Wainui School Field

Raffle Items – We are still in need of food items to add into a couple of Raffles for Christmas in the Country. If you are able to donate any food items please drop off to the office before next Wednesday. We would greatly appreciate it.

Enterprise Stalls – These were held today by the year 7&8’s. They were fantastic, selling everything from toffee apples, to strawberries and chocolate, to bracelets and pizza. This will all be on offer on Thursday, bring some cash to treat yourself!!

Graduation and Farewell Assembly – We’ll be bidding farewell to our Year 8 students with a special Graduation ceremony, tonight, Tuesday 10th December. We celebrate their achievements with family at the Wainui Golf club and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

Farewell to Our Departing Staff and Year 8 Students – We would also like to take this opportunity to say farewell to four valued members of our staff who will be leaving us at the end of this year. Mrs Blackburn, Mrs Tollemache  Miss Cavanagh and Mrs De Cort who will all be very much missed. Please join us in a special farewell gathering on Friday, 13th December at 2:00pm to wish them and the year 8s well in their future adventures as they all “move on up and out to new horizons”. All other children are farewelled in their teams or classes.

At this Assembly we will present the Athletics Shield and announce the much anticipated MasterChef winners!!

Wishing You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – As the year draws to a close, we want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and partnership. We wish you all a joyous holiday season filled with love, laughter, and peace.

We look forward to welcoming you back in 2025 for another exciting year of learning and growth.

Monday 3rd February, 2025 – This will be a day for you to make a time to have a Learning Conversation with your teacher for 2025 and re-familiarise yourself with school. The School Office will also be open.

Times start from 9:00am – 4:30pm, if you cannot do this then please arrange another time with the teacher, we are only happy to accommodate.

Step 1:  Enter your email address, parents’ full name, number of students you are booking for and the students name/s. Click the ‘go’ button.

Step 2:  For each student, select your child’s classroom under the first drop down box, select their teacher under the second drop down box. Click the ‘go’ button. 

Step 3: Choose the time/s you would like for your learning conversation/s by clicking the time slot that is available. Missing check boxes mean the time has already been booked. Click ‘go’ button.

Step 4: You have the option to print out a copy of the times you have booked, a confirmation email will also be emailed to you. You can view, or change or cancel your booking, by using the link in the email confirmation. 

Tuesday 4th February –  Classes start in full.

Prizegiving – Congratulations to all our Prizegiving recipients, we thank you for your attitude, effort and achievements. It was fantastic to celebrate with you all last Friday afternoon, all the Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and friends who joined us, we are all so proud!!

This is the last full Newsletter of the year! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas full of family, friends and joy!!!

To those of you leaving the Wainui whanau community, we wish you all the very best and thank you for everything you have given us!! We are so fortunate to learn and play in this beautiful environment, we know you will take the Wainui 5R’s, the Wainui fun and laughter with you on your journey!! Always feel welcome to return especially at our famous events!!!

SALT Community Trust Food Drive – This year Wainui School will be supporting the SALT Community Trust food drive. We would be very grateful for donated food items. These items can be brought to school and put in the box next to the office. The following food items are the items SALT would be grateful for.  (please check items are in date)

– Cereal, Muesli bars, Spreads, Watties Spaghetti, Watties baked beans, Canned fruit, Canned corn, Coconut cream, Simmer sauces, 2 minute noodles, Biscuits, Washing powder, Dishwashing liquid, Christmas treats. Thanks so much for your support ♥

Board By-Election – This is the last week to send in your votes. There is a Ballot Box in the office for you to drop your voting paper into. Votes must be delivered before 4pm on 16th December 2024. If posting, please send as early as possible as it must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 5 days after the date of the election.

Coordinators needed for Winter Sports 2025 – Wainui School is seeking parents to take on the roles of Parent Coordinators for both Hockey and Basketball in the upcoming year. These roles involve organising teams, managing fees, scheduling practice times, handling gear bags, and taking care of administrative tasks. You’ll have the full support of the Wainui School Sports Coordinator, who will oversee these positions. Having Parent Coordinators is crucial for the continuation of after-school sports at Wainui School. If you have any questions about these roles, please feel free to email Luke at [email protected] for Basketball or Halena at [email protected] for Hockey.

Cat in Need of a Loving New Home – Miss Cavanagh’s cat is 6 years old and is looking for a new forever home as she unfortunately can’t take her with her to the South Island. If you are interested or would like some more information please email Miss Cavanagh at [email protected]

Raumati Reads – Kia ora e te whānau! With the summer holidays right around the corner, it’s almost time to register for Raumati Reads! Raumati Reads is a fun, free summer reading programme for 5-10 year olds offered by Auckland Council Libraries.

Taking part is simple. Pre-registrations begin on Monday 9 December. Raumati Reads begins on Monday 16 December, and continues until the end of the programme on Sunday 26 January.

Here’s what you need to know to get started:

  • Pick up your activity guide from your local library from Monday 16 December
  • Keep track of your reading
  • Complete activities
