OTHER
School Donation – As a decile 9 school the overall funds allotted to our school by the Ministry need support from you. Our School Donation is vital to enable many things to happen, get upgraded or completed; ongoing replacement of iPads and Chromebooks, Bike Track and bikes maintained, sports gear, running of the pool, the extras that enable our school to have such wonderful opportunities and places to play.
Many of our school community it seems many have forgotten to contribute the school donation, or awhile back Kindo was not working. Please contribute, we do need this to meet our years budget. You can contribute on Kindo, via Internet banking, in the office on eftpos or with cash.
Internet Banking: ASB Bank – 12 3046 0155685 00. Please reference Surname and “Donation”.
You can donate a little each term if this helps as well.
Board Elections – Don’t forget to get your votes in for the Board Election by 4pm on Election Day, 7th September. There is a ballot box in the office to drop your votes into or you can post your voting paper using the self-addressed envelope you received with your voting papers.
FINALLY
Today the year 8’s and Wainui School were visited by a group of year 11- 13 students from the BLAKE Foundation. The 45 “future leaders” from this group had been selected from different NZ schools, to take part in the “BLAKE Inspire week”. This is a week-long residential leadership development programme in partnership with the Ministry for the Environment. They visited Wainui School to help dig some trenches for our bokashi scraps. This was also an opportunity for them to meet the year 8’s and look at the bokashi programme they have implemented at Wainui School. They spoke to the year 8’s about how this system works at Wainui School and how successful it has been. Thanks so much to Samantha Neely for her fantastic welcome speech – a very challenging task to do in front of 40 odd people. We also took the opportunity to show them our Garden to Table gardens and speak to them about the wicking bed gardens. The session was completed with a triple haka performed by the year 7 and 8’s with some help from a few year 6’s.
The next two weeks value is Resilience!!
Ka kite ano,
Gillian Bray
