FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Kia ora,
It is hard to believe we are already in week 9 of our first term as we race towards the school holidays. It has been wonderful witnessing the high level of student engagement, as well as the diverse range of learning experiences that are happening across our kura. Our school assemblies, this term, have consistently show cased individual teams and their class programmes tailored to enrich our student’s educational journey. Thank you to our students, teachers and our community for sharing and contributing to our vibrant learning community.

Bike-a-thon – You will have heard the ‘buzz’ in the playground about our first school fundraiser, our Bike-a-thon, on Friday 5th April. This event certainly embodies the spirit of team work as we join forces to raise funds for our school, fostering a real sense of community. Every contribution, no matter how small, plays a vital role in supporting our schools initiatives and to make a meaningful, positive difference, to the educational experience of our tamariki.
Thank you to all who have already registered on the ‘Raise it’ fundraising page. This weeks challenge is to get your whole class signed up and a donation made on our ‘Raise It’ page. On Wednesday, 26th April, the class with the most students signed up and with a donation will ‘win’ a pizza and juicy party for their class. Let’s ‘wheel in’ the support and spin those fundraising wheels.

Learning Conversations – Wednesday, 3rd April – Parent, student and teacher Learning Conversations are an important element of our reporting process and build on partnerships with teachers, students and families to ensure successful learning. End of Day Pick-Up – The top priority for our school in the before school drop-off and after school pick-up is ensuring that all students and adults are safe. Our before school drop-off is a really smooth transition, thank you. Our afternoon pick-up is causing us some concern with some students not being collected in the area they are to wait for their parents or caregivers.
A few reminders –
- Years 0-4 students and students with siblings, are to be collected at the front of school at the top of the round-a-bout. Parents need to park their vehicle and collect their children from here.
- Year 5-8 students are to wait by the board walk on the lower field and be collected by parents/ caregivers from this point.
- No children are to play or climb in the tree near the school driveway.
- Ensuring we are all safe, especially our students, remains paramount. We are committed to making their wellbeing our top priority, at all times, and are very appreciative of your continued support.
E Tū Tāngata – This week Wainui is learning about the second strand of the E Tū Tāngataprogramme – WE SUCCEED TOGETHER – Ki te kāpuia e kore e whati.
This short poem explains the meaning of the proverb Ki te kapuia, e kore e whati.
It might be nice to discuss with your child/ children that the strength of the toe toe increases when it is combined with other strands, and that this is also true for the way people are stronger as a group.
Finally
We are looking forward to a fabulous week ahead. Our year 7-8 students have a treat in store with an Easter themed hour on Thursday for our years 0-4 classrooms. This will be a delightful lead-up to the Easter weekend, (29th April Good Friday – 2nd April Easter Tuesday). Indulge in some Hot Crossed Buns and not too much chocolate and we will see you all back, refreshed and ready to dive back into learning next Wednesday.
