FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Kia ora to you all,
Today we have the answer to what is in store for us for the next few weeks. Today it has been announced we will move to Alert Level 3 on Monday 27th April at Midnight. For us this means school can be open for those families that need school to be open. Wainui School will prepare to open over the next week, following all the Ministry of Education Guidelines.
Tuesday 28th April – Teacher Only Day.
Wednesday 29th April – Wainui School can be open for students that need to come as families return to work or are essential workers etc. The news we have heard today brings new challenges – for many it means to stay at home continuing to engage in distance learning, which will continue to be supplied. For some children in New Zealand and at Wainui School it will mean a return to school.
The Government has asked us to obtain a clear list of all families who need to send children back to school.
Please e-mail IMMEDIATELY your intention to myself, the office and the teacher if you will be sending your child back to school. We must obtain a clear list of who we have coming back to school as there are strict rules around this in regards to further tracing, and to ensure we keep everyone safe!!
How it will work:
- Children up to Year 10 to be able to return to school, if families need them too in Level 3 if they are unable to continue learning at home.
- Class bubbles of 10 maximum students would be created with staggered break and lunch times.
- Limited school transport to get children to school – to be advised with the bus company.
I trust you are starting to get into the new routine of lock down life and distance learning. Once again I continue to thank everyone, starting firstly with parents!! With your support in getting your children involved and setting up at home online to connect and learn!! To the teachers for doing so much behind the scenes and learning themselves to use the various online platforms. From learning to making movies, transferring somethings we have done for many years to be done differently, well done. Lastly of course the students who continue to make us smile and we see doing so many amazing things at home!! Well done everyone!!
To everyone, thank you for your wonderful messages of support and thanks, we all appreciate it. We want to hear from you all!!
Nga mihi nui
