FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Kia ora Koutou,
Last week we had the first event of the year our “Back to School Night”. It was wonderful to meet so many of you on another beautiful evening!! If you didn’t manage to get in to meet the teacher you can still do this, your child has practiced how to introduce you to their teacher or in a couple of cases teacher/s. In the office area are the boards of information around the school year as well. So make it the year you do have a great partnership with your child’s teacher and your child knows you have a positive relationship with their teacher.
Teachers are often in “Loco parentis”!! We would like to also take this time to ask that you ensure the school and the teacher know if your child is sick, or you will need to pick your child up at an earlier time. Please inform the school office if you are changing any pick up plans. With communication being so instant now, sometimes we are finding the usual ways of communicating (that is through the school office) are being bypassed. We would prefer children did not contact their parent or caregiver separately but inform us first so we do not get communication or whereabouts of the child confused. Thank you.
WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN HAPPENING
Routines are becoming well established
- Thank you for naming all the hats, shoes, etc. We are improving in the amount of clothing being left behind.
- 8.15am is the earliest time of arrival at school as we can guarantee most of the staff will be on site then.

The first event is the Fishing Competition and Summer Festival coming up soon on 18th March. We need as much help as we can muster to make this event a good one. Come and help, donate a few hours of time to make this event even better. We meet in the staffroom, start time for the meeting is 7.00pm.
COMING UP
UK BBC TV children’s presenters Joe & Andy bring us the Ridiculous Rhyme Show Thursday 1st March – Joe and Andy both worked alongside one another presenting popular children’s television show “The Rhyme Rocket” on the CBeebies channel in the UK. They are now continuing their journey by touring primary schools internationally with their latest creation. We are fortunate to have a visit coming up next week. This will come with a cost of $5.00 per child which can be paid to your classroom teacher, eftpos at the office or direct credit on-line.
The Ridiculous Rhyme Show is an interactive literacy show with rhyme as a key focus. It is about an hour in length and contains songs, sketches and SILLINESS. If you search on-line for their show you will be able to see what they get up to.
