FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Kia ora Koutou,

Haere mai to term three!! I trust you have all had a great break despite the wet and windy weather in New Zealand or if overseas enjoyed the sun and warmth!!

Matariki is being celebrated in Aotearoa and Wainui is enjoying our annual focus on Matariki. It’s a chance to increase our knowledge and understanding through art, waiata, literacy and  inquiry. We have a well planned programme for the week put together by Mr Irvine and the teams, this will culminate in a performance on Friday.

9:15am Matariki Assembly, Performances by Teams.

Matariki Music Video Challenge winner announced – We invite you all to participate with us. and join us for a cup of tea and small kai afterwards.

THIS WEEK

We welcome a number of new students to our Wainui School community. Welcome to Andy Liu our first International student since before the pandemic!! Andy and his family have come from China for four weeks to experience New Zealand and ‘Kiwi culture”!! We have returned from Kazakhstan Alisher Mamashayev (yr 8) and Amal Mamashayeva (yr 3), we are all so excited to see them return. Alisher told us we were the “best school in the world”, he has been to school in Kazakhstan and in Greece, they are well travelled. This is very humbling to hear. Four New Entrant children started in Mrs Allen’s room, Georgia & Thea Groves, Nixon Cooper and Bonnie O’Neill-Gooch.

Please inform Miss Ludwig or myself directly, thank you. Also, if your child/ children are absent please let the office know and the reason for their absence before 9am on the day.
