Camp Raglan – This week our year 5-8’s are all on camp at Camp Raglan!! We have received word that the weather is quite lovely there today! We know it will be a wonderful time. Thank you Miss Stevenson for all of your work getting this organised! Teachers: Mr Irvine, Mr Cochrane, Mr Ng and Mr Wotton, thank you for being so enthusiastic and heading off to camp! Lastly, thank you to all the parents that have gone to camp. We are so fortunate to have so many who want to go! Our children are very, very lucky.

Group Day The InterSchool Ag Day, where our Wainui School Ag Day winner’s animals can be shown and will compete against other lambs, kids and calves in the area. Schools from the Helensville, Coatesville, Dairy Flat, and Waitoki areas will be present. We have 7 students attending.  Good luck to you all!

Wainui Board Report & Community Report – Below is a full report from Board member Annaliese Hewitt on the community’s input to fundraising and sponsorship this year. I think you will all be surprised and, like me, very thankful that we are able to do so much. What a great little school we have!!

Wainui School Board Report

We are thrilled to update you on the recent developments and projects that the Wainui School Board has been
working on behind the scenes to enhance the overall experience for our students. Thanks to the continued support
and contributions from our community and fundraising efforts from our Friends of Wainui (FOWs) group, we are
making significant strides in creating an even more enjoyable and safe learning environment for our children. Here
are some of the exciting initiatives we have undertaken.

Grant funding of just over $31,000 has allowed us to purchase 4 new Wainui School branded marquees, hockey
equipment, increased our counsellor to 2 days a week, purchase new macrocarpa picnic tables and have the new
rugby/soccer goal post installed.

We know that shade in playgrounds is a priority for parents and so we have had shade installed over the junior
playground and hope to have a section of the upstairs court area in shade by the end of the year.

Due to the heavy rain and flooding earlier this year, the bike track had been adversely affected. The Board showed a
strong commitment to enhancing the track and has concreted it and introduced a couple of pump elements to make
it even more appealing to senior students, a huge thank you to Chad Mexted for all his hard work in making this
happen.

The Friends of Wainui (FOWs) group have been an amazing source of fundraising for the school with events so far
raising over $69,000 to go towards teacher aids and upgrading ICT equipment in the classrooms! We couldn’t do
what we need to do at school without this amazing team and this fundraising effort helps us to do extras around the
school like shade and bike tracks. Please ensure that you get behind the school events and contribute in whichever
way you can. The FOWs team meet monthly and are always looking for extra members to join the team, they are
currently a small, but mighty, team and we are fortunate to have their involvement in our school. Even if you can’t
make regular monthly meetings we are always looking for extra helpers around event times, so feel free to get in
touch at fows@wainui.school.nz

From Annaliese Hewitt, Wainui School Board.
