Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our school is preparing for the forecasted Cyclone Gabrielle and wanted you to know we are prepared as a staff and will inform you as soon as we can on the status of the school being open and if buses are running. The decision to do this is made by the Board Presiding Member Pip Catchpole and myself. However as we are all well aware now, the Secretary of Education may also make this decision.
Information is sent via email, posted on Facebook and put up on the school website as soon as possible.
I have attached the procedures that can also be located on School DOCs for “Extreme weather”. All teachers have reviewed these and are very aware of their responsibilities. Extreme Weather Procedures
Despite the fact we intend to remain open as long as it is safe, as a family you may have your own challenges with getting to school due to the storm, we do not expect you to come if it is unsafe. First of all, please inform the school office if you will be absent or late as per usual. If you need to stay at home because of the extreme weather conditions your child will not be penalised on the attendance roll.
We have had a very successful start to the year despite all these weather challenges and sincerely hope this storm doesn’t affect us in our homes and our school.
Take care have a happy weekend all
Gillian Bray
