WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING

  • Ag Day & Gala – What an amazing day!! Being a part of a rural school and celebrating the rural traditions along with some new ones of our own is such a special part of Wainui School life!! We are so fortunate to have a community that wants to connect and celebrate this special part of Wainui School’s character. There were grandparents who used to attend this school, mixed with college students who also attended this school, alongside our brand new, young  families!!

There are so many people to thank as without the sponsors, organisers, judges, volunteers, staff, and the children this day cannot happen!!

First of all I want to thank Nikki Browne (FOWS) and Kylie Allen (teacher and mum of Champion Lamb). These two ladies with their families worked and worked to enable this day to happen!! Thank you Nikki and Kylie for your positivity and willingness to make this day be amazing – it’s awesome!!

Thank you to every parent that raised an animal with their child, it takes patience, time and commitment to getting the animal ready, well done!!

Thank you to Simone du Bernard of Harcourts Cooper & Co for your generous sponsorship, the Coffee and Cone van, for being with us all day and sharing in the festivities.

Thank you to the FOWS team led by Lesley Ann Linn, all the volunteers as parents on the food stalls, the games. Every one of you made the day a success and it seems we have raised a good profit, details will be shared next week.

Thank you to all the parents that did take a day off work to attend, I know this is a big ask, but as I explain every year this day is about every child coming so by having this day on a school day enables us to do this!! This day is about celebrating our rural roots, not just about fundraising but connecting with the community so next year, plan ahead and ask even more family members or special people (that grandparent who lives further away), to come along, and give them time to plan to be here – they will love it like we do!!

Congratulations to all animals and their trainers!! If you have a ribbon and won a place from 1-4 you are able to attend Group Day at Helensville Showgrounds on Friday 4th November. Mrs Kylie Allen will be informing everyone with a special letter but do contact us if you need more information.

Hamish and Champion Lamb

  • Young Farmer – The finals of this annual competition for the senior children were held at Ag Day. The junior children completed theirs on Tuesday.
  • Congratulations to the finalists they were:
  • Year 1/2 – Aleigha Ritchie and Lucas Walker
    Year 3/4 – Jackson Magan
    Year 5/6 – Felix Latham
    Year 7/8 – Zane Austen

Driveway and Carpark – Massive thank you to the mums that have been helping us use the new carpark, the old carpark and the driveway safely to enable us all to get off the road. Today was superb, thank you everyone as this is why we built this extra carpark for pick-up time. Here are some clear reminders of how we can all be efficient and safe at pick-up time:

  • Park and walk
  • Keep the bus pick-up area on the roundabout clear
  • Park as close as you can to the car next to you in unmarked car parks
  • Fill up the old carpark first from the far end
  • Be courteous, use the 5R’s when parking

If you come at 3:10pm you will be able to park or drive around the roundabout with no problems.
